What's the deal with diffusers?

Why should you consider using diffusers in your post-workout recovery routine?

The use of diffusers and essential oils has become increasingly popular in recent years for their various health benefits, including aiding in recovery from physical activity and stress.

In this post, we will explore the benefits of using essential oils for recovery and recommend some of the best oils to use for this purpose. We will also introduce FITAID Sports Recovery.

It is a delicious and effective way to relax and recover from a crushing WOD, a resolution run, or any sweat-inducing gym session.

But first, let's take a look at what diffusers and essential oils are and how they work.

What are Diffusers and Essential Oils?

Diffusers are devices that disperse essential oils into the air as a fine mist. The oils are then inhaled, allowing the user to reap the therapeutic benefits of the oils. There are various types of diffusers available, including ultrasonic, nebulizing, and heat diffusers.

Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that are obtained through a process called distillation. They are called "essential" because they contain the essence of the plant's aroma and flavor. Each essential oil has its own unique blend of chemical constituents, which give it its distinct scent and therapeutic properties.

woman relaxes and foam rollers leg with FITAID EnergyWhat helps the body recover faster?

Have you tried foam rolling and FITAID!

Using a foam roller and the right recovery beverage as part of your post-workout recovery routine can be incredibly beneficial for your overall muscle health and performance. Foam rolling, also known as self-myofascial release, is a form of self-massage that helps to release muscle tightness and tension. This can help to improve flexibility, reduce muscle soreness, and prevent injuries. We’ve even partnered with RPM to score you a 30% discount code to score your own!

One of the main reasons why foam rolling is important for post-workout recovery is that it helps to improve circulation. When you work out, your muscles undergo a lot of stress and tension, which can lead to a buildup of lactic acid and other metabolic by-products. These substances can cause muscle soreness and stiffness, and they can also reduce blood flow to the muscles. By using a foam roller to massage your muscles, you can help to increase blood flow and circulation, which can help to remove these by-products and speed up the recovery process.

Foam rolling can also help to improve flexibility. As you age, your muscles naturally become tighter and less flexible, which can lead to a decrease in range of motion and an increase in the risk of injury. By using a foam roller to massage your muscles, you can help to break up scar tissue and increase flexibility, which can help to improve your overall performance and reduce the risk of injury.

In addition to these benefits, foam rolling can also help to reduce muscle soreness and fatigue. When you work out, your muscles undergo a lot of stress, which can lead to muscle soreness and fatigue. By using a foam roller to massage your muscles, you can help to reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, which can help you feel more energized and ready to tackle your next workout.

Now that you know some of the benefits of using a foam roller as part of your post-workout recovery routine, you may be wondering, "What is the best exercise recovery drink" to replenish and rehydrate you. One option that you may want to consider is FITAID.

What is the best exercise recovery drink?

FITAID is a post-workout recovery drink that is specifically designed to help your body recover after a tough workout. It contains a blend of nutrients and electrolytes that can help to replenish your body's stores and support muscle recovery. Some of the key ingredients in FITAID include:

Electrolytes: FITAID contains electrolytes without sodium, which are important for hydration and muscle function. These electrolytes help to maintain proper fluid balance in the body and support muscle function.

Antioxidants: FITAID contains antioxidants like vitamins C and E, which can help to reduce oxidative stress and support overall health.

In addition to these ingredients, FITAID is also free from artificial sweeteners, making it a more natural and healthier choice for post-workout recovery. FITAID never uses gut-disruptive artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, aspartame or ACE-K.

Overall, using a foam roller as part of your post-workout recovery routine can be incredibly beneficial for your muscle health and performance. It can help to improve circulation, increase flexibility, reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, and prevent injuries. And when combined with a high-quality post-workout recovery drink like FITAID, you can give your body the support it needs to recover and perform at its best.

50 Years of Title IX

50 years ago this month, June 23rd to be exact, Title IX was signed into law by President Richard Nixon. Back then, I do not believe people understand how big of an impact this Civil Rights Act would have not only on education, but in athletics.

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex or gender in any educational institution that receives federal funding. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states, “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Over the years, Title IX has grown to protect women not just in education and sports but against sexual harassment.  Although it does operate to prohibit and provide guidance on dealing with sexual harassment, that does not define the essence of Title IX. Title IX is, and always will be, an equity law, and like other equity laws, Title IX should be employed in any forum in which it is needed. Title IX should be utilized to its full potential and not limited merely because of its narrow application in the past. Fortunately, we are seeing its scope broaden to meet current needs. For example, today’s Title IX is applicable in cases concerning gender identity and sexual orientation, making it an essential tool as we encounter unlawful discrimination and harassment of our LGBTQ+ community members.

Over the past 50 years, Title IX has transformed women’s sports for the better. In 1972, there were just over 300,000 women and girls playing college and high school sports in the United States. Female athletes received 2% of college athletic budgets, while athletic scholarships for females were basically nonexistent. Today, over 3 million girls are participating in high school sports and over 200,000 are participating in collegiate athletics. Also, today 1 in every 5 girls are participating in female athletics in the United States as opposed to 1 in 27 before Title IX in 1972.

Title IX has progressed female athletics, education, and safety. However, there is still a long way to go. So continue to support female sports and continue to be an advocate for all female athletes around the world! Are you a female athlete? We want to feature YOU! Tag us on Instagram @FITAID

FITAID Energy® Disrupts So-Called Clean Energy Drink Market

The naturally sweetened and green-tea caffeinated addition to FITAID Sports Recovery line promises to revolutionize energy drink industry.

Santa Cruz, Calif., April 12, 2022 - LIFEAID Beverage Company has released a new line of clean performance energy drinks. The FITAID Energy® collection is the long awaited clean-caffeine addition to their original Sports Recovery product, FITAID®, boosted with 200mg of caffeine from green tea. The FITAID Energy + Sports Recovery blend is naturally sweetened with only 15 calories, no sucralose, no aspartame, and no fillers. Available in four electric flavors: Mango Sorbet, Peach Mandarin, Blackberry Pineapple, and an on-line exclusive Raspberry Hibiscus, FITAID contains no artificial flavors or colors.

“This is the evolution of energy. Energy 3.0,” says LIFEAID Co-Founder and President, Aaron Hinde. “FITAID Energy is unlike any other energy drink on the market. Our clean caffeine from green tea helps fight your fitness fatigue and contains our original post-workout recovery blend which includes BCAAs, Turmeric, Electrolytes, Vitamins B, C, D3, E, and more. All of our hand-picked ingredients have met the highest supplement standards and remain vegan, non-gmo, and gluten-free. Coupled with no sucralose, and no taurine, FITAID Energy is the future of clean performance energy.”

LIFEAID Beverage Company has long held itself to the highest standards of product design and formulation. The LIFEAID research and development team spent a year formulating an optimal blend of clean caffeine and quality supplements to give athletes an all-in-one solution without compromises. Each of the four flavors have a clean, crisp finish and avoid the aftertaste often associated with energy drinks.

“We started LIFEAID to disrupt the legacy of sodas and energy drinks already in the market. Over the years, we’ve started to see emerging energy drinks in retail. We didn’t consider many of them necessarily healthy from their ingredient deck. Nearly all of them are artificially sweetened with sucralose or aspartame, which as we know kills your gut microbiome.” says LIFEAID Co-Founder and CEO Orion Melehan.

FITAID Energy is available at the company’s website, Lifeaidbevco.com, Amazon, and select retailers including, Vitamin Shoppe, Harris Teeter, HEB, HyVee, QuickTrip, Circle K, Stop & Shop, Big Y, Safeway Southern, United Market Street.

Melehan continues, “We embarked on a year-long endeavor of creating a superior product in terms of functionality, a clean ingredient deck with our naturally derived caffeine from green tea, and lowered the calorie count to 15. We did this while staying within our brand guardrails to keep it naturally sweetened. I’m confident that you will love them as much as we do!”

Santa Cruz, Calif., April, 1st, 2022 - LIFEAID, The Performance Beverage Company continues to disrupt the market with ground breaking products. Hot off the heels of a record setting ecomm performance of FOCUSAID Watermelon Mint in February; LIFEAID went back into the lab (or to the Pickleball courts) and fermented a recovery beverage for Pickleballing pickle people. PICKLEAID Prickly Pickle has been pickled in our warehouse and is ready to hit the shelves. To those traditionalists still stuck on boring tennis and complaining about tennis courts being crowded with Pickleball players, it’s only going to get worse!

“Being that we are the #1 recovery beverage on the market, it was only right we added a pickle flavor to our portfolio. I mean who doesn’t enjoy a crisp, salty pickle at any time of the day. Pickle juice by itself is great for rehydration, especially after a Pickleball game. Take pickle juice, our proven and tested recovery blend, and BOOM! You single handedly have the best tasting recovery beverage on the market.” Says, LIFEAID Sports Division Marketing Coordinator, Brice McAllister.

PICKLEAID Prickly Pickle includes all of the same great ingredients of the original FITAID blend including BCAAs, Turmeric, and is sweetened with raw organic blue agave with no artificial sweeteners. However, LIFEAID has put a spin on this mix for those pickle lovers out there. PICKLEAID Prickly Pickle is loaded with organic dill to give the beverage that authentic pickle flavor. Cloves of fresh garlic have been pressed and turned into liquid. LIFEAID usually does not add sodium to their beverages but artisanal vinegar and the finest of himalayan sea salts have been added to give it the perfect zesty blend . Cracking open an ice cold PICKLEAID is basically like biting into a rich and juicy pickle. Only difference is that you can shotgun a PICKLEAID.

PICKLEAID was specifically designed for those athletes that protect their kitchen, have perfected the dink shot, and call the Pickledome their home. PICKLEAID is the recovery beverage of Pickleball players across the globe. After playing several Pickleball games, the best way to recover and do it all over again is by cracking open an ice-cold can of PICKLEAID.

If you have made it this far, you must have really been craving a PICKLEAID flavor. Well, like any product launch on April 1st, APRIL FOOLS! You may not be able to get PICKLEAID Prickly Pickle but you can get 20% off your order if you use the code PICKLEAID at checkout.

Meet The Newest Team FITAID Athlete, Guilherme Malheiros

Q&A with Crossfit Star Guilherme Malheiros

Guilherme Malheiros, also known as Gui, is the 21 year old Crossfit Phenom from Brazil who is quickly becoming a star in the CrossFit world. He was first introduced to CrossFit in 2016 at the age of 16. That year, he ranked 45th in the world and second in Brazil. The following year, in 2017, Guilherme took 2nd in the CrossFit boys division (16-17) and was crowned the 2nd Fittest Teenager on Earth.

Fast-forward to 2019 and Guilherme, 19 years old, is the Fittest Man in Brazil and is competing in the CrossFit Games in the men’s division. He would go on and place 48th at the 2019 CrossFit Games. In 2020, Malheiros finished atop the rankings of Fittest Man in Brazil again. However, due to COVID-19, he did not compete in the 2020 games.

After a year of not competing at the 2020 CrossFit Games, Guilherme was determined to make a statement during the 2021 Games and that is exactly what he did. Guilherme would go on to win three events, the 550 yard sprint, the sprint and heavy clean ladder, and the one-rep max snatch event. Guilherme was one of two competitors to take home first place in at least three events. As the youngest competitor at this year's Madison Games, Guilherme would go on to place 7th overall at the 2021 CrossFit Games. Also, Guilherme would be crowned Most Improved Athlete at the CrossFit games for his efforts.

Guilherme has the potential to carry the sport for the country of Brazil and bring more fans and competitors from all countries within South America. While some believe Guilherme is the future star this sport needs, Guilherme believes the future is now.

We sat down with the future star of CrossFit to learn more about him, his love for CrossFit, and the biggest differences between his home country of Brazil and America.

Q: When do you first become aware of FITAID?

So I knew FITAID in 2017. I was in Puerto Rico. I loved it. The shirts and all of their apparel, obviously the drink, the recovery drink. So I wanted to be sponsored by FITAID but at that time I did not have the contact to talk to someone. So I just waited and was like ‘man one day I’m going to be sponsored by FITAID.’ And then in 2021 after the games, Aaron Hinde (Co-Founder and President of LIFEAID)  just stopped his car in the middle of a crowd of people and said “Hey Bro! I want to sponsor you!’ And I was like ‘Yeah! Let's go!’

Q: Why do you love working out?

Because it makes me feel better with myself and improves my self confidence. Working out improves my mental game and my mentality towards life. I love working out because it makes me feel better, lighter, strong, and self confident.

Q: What is your favorite workout song?

I don’t have only one. I have maybe a type of music. Hip Hop and Electronics but between those two, Electronics.

Q: What is your favorite part about competing?

My favorite part is getting the crowd on their feet.

Q: What is your favorite post workout meal?

Acai, for sure, I love it.

Q: What does your morning routine look like?

Wake up, wash my face, scrape my tongue, brush my teeth, go to the kitchen, drink water, say good morning to my girlfriend, make a coffee, and make some plain waffles with honey on top.

Q: What do you miss most about Brazil?

From Brazil I miss the food, my family, my friends, the beach, and my dogs

Q: What is the biggest difference between Brazil and America?

People here are not used to hugging each other. When you get to the gym, it's just waves and ‘sup’, ‘morning’, ‘what's up.’ In Brazil it's more like ‘come here bro, how's the day? How was your night? How did you sleep? Come here, hugs, kisses, all that stuff.

Q: What is your favorite food here in America?

Tex Mex...  Rice, chicken, cheese, cheese (yes double cheese) lettuce, tomato, in wrap. Like a Burrito.

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of CrossFit?

Sleep, eat frosted flakes, play video games, watch Netflix, and sleep.

Make sure to follow Gui on Instagram!

Team FITAID Athlete Laura Horvath Clinches Silver at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games

Laura Horvath Brings FITAID to the Podium at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games

Santa Cruz, Calif., August 4th, 2021 --

After four days of competition and 15 events, Team FITAID athlete Laura Horvath earned the silver medal at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games.

Since 2016, Horvath has consistently been ranked number one in her home country of Hungary. The 24-year-old had seven top five finishes and one event win, forging her path to the podium once again. As a rookie, Horvath also placed 2nd at the 2018 CrossFit Games.

Horvath made her CrossFit debut in 2016 at the age of 19 at the Meridian Regional and has been a European fan favorite ever since. She joined the Team FITAID European athlete roster earlier this year along with Gabriela Migala (Poland) who placed 6th in the Women’s Individual competition.

“After placing 14th at the 2019 CrossFit Games, a lot of people cast doubt on Laura’s ability to be a contender for the podium. We’re so proud of Laura for striving for greatness, prioritizing her recovery in order to make such astounding progress,  and coming back with a vengeance to prove that she is here to stay,” said Aaron Hinde, President and Co-Founder of LIFEAID

The Sport of Fitness is all about the unknown and the unknowable and the global pandemic certainly added a layer of adversity for athletes during that time. CrossFit Games hopefuls were forced to get creative with their training as gyms were shuttered and the path to the Games was restructured.

“The past 18+ months we’ve seen a lot of uncertainty, especially in the gym world. This obviously affected our athletes deeply and there is nothing more exciting than seeing Laura and the other 18 Team FITAID athletes put in work at the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games! It’s like their energy was pent up all of 2020 and they finally got to show us what they’re made of,” said Hinde.

Despite everything, fans showed up to Madison, WI, filling out the stands to cheer on their favorite athletes. The energy in the Coliseum during the final events was electric as The Fittest on Earth solidified their spots at the podium.

Summer is halfway over, and if you’re anything like me - some days feel like Groundhog’s Day. We’ve done the same thing day after day, and we are ready for a CHANGE UP! We asked the ladies in the Mother’s of Fitness Facebook Group (come join us!) to share some of their favorite summer activities to do as a family. So whether your kids are 6 months or 16 years, here are some universal, fun ideas to do with your kids on these hot summer days!

Water, water, and more water!

Even if you don’t have a pool or lake/beach nearby, there are still so many fun water activities that you can do! Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Kiddie pools! An inflatable kiddie pool is a great way to cool down. Bonus points if you add in a kids basketball hoop or bring a water table into it!
  2. Set up a sprinkler. Any other parents have some incredible memories as a kid running through the sprinklers? Get silly and grab an umbrella or rain boots, and have some fun while running in the water.
  3. For the older kids - a homemade slip n slide! Tarps or plastic drop cloths work great, are super cheap, and incredibly easy to set up.
  4. Find a splash pad in your neighborhood to visit.
  5. Play with water balloons or water guns!

Here are some great activities to spark the creativity in our kiddos:

  1. Set up an art station! For older kids, set up a mini easel and let them paint/draw to their heart’s desire! For younger kids/toddlers, a great option for “painting” is dipping a paint brush in water and painting on cement. This is one of those God-send CLEAN “messy fun”activities that really doesn’t leave any mess at all!
  2. Sidewalk chalk - perfect for all ages.
  3. Art projects! These can vary a ton based on age - but things like making necklaces, paper mache, making a card for a grandparent or family member, making a collage, etc are all ideas to start with.
  4. Depending on the age of your kids, bake or cook together! Kids LOVE being involved and helping to measure/pour when possible (and safe, of course).

Play Outside

One of the obvious favorites, get outside when the weather permits. Here were a ton of favorites listed in the group:

  1. Go for a hike!
  2. Visit a neighborhood pool or park.
  3. Lawn games at home or at the park! Favorites included washers, flying kites, softball and kickball, cornhole, etc.
  4. Visit a local zoo or farm.
  5. Find local orchards where you can pick apples, peaches, etc.
  6. Set up a scavenger hunt around the yard or neighborhood (this can be done indoors too on super hot days!).
  7. Plant a garden together.
  8. Have a picnic dinner during sunset.
  9. Go fishing!

Other Fun Ideas…

  1. Play tourist in your own city! Check out places you have never been before.
  2. Make ice cream, popsicles, or smoothie bowls together.
  3. Take a walk or ride bikes in a different neighborhood
  4. Have a camp out (in the living room or backyard)
  5. Visit a Farmer’s Market and pick out fresh produce together.
  6. Take a trip to a museum or aquarium.
  7. Play hide and go seek.

What are some other favorites you would add to this list?

Why is Nutrition so Important for the Sport of Fitness

CrossFit as a training methodology has long promoted balanced nutrition. It is part of the L1 curriculum, and a great amount of focus has been placed on a low processed, whole

foods based diet as the driver to a reversal of chronic disease.

CrossFit the sport has taken a slightly different approach. While food quality is still important, there is a new focus on food amounts both on a calorie and macronutrient level. Macro tracking is the new nutrition approach du jour for athletes, and to no one’s surprise, the community has followed close behind.
